--- ## Description This grant supports the establishment of pilot sites for long-term forest monitoring across Europe as part of the FORWARDS Horizon Europe project. The initiative aims to prototype the ForestWard Observatory—a pan-European monitoring and evaluation tool designed to deliver near real-time, ecosystem-level information on how climatic drivers affect forest structure and function. The call seeks to expand the capabilities of existing monitoring networks (such as ICP Forests, ICOS, or LTER sites) by integrating new nowcasting approaches (e.g., tree water deficit measurements) and linking them with long-term datasets.
