The Pioneer Innovator Grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation is designed to accelerate the commercialization of cutting-edge academic research and technology development in the fields of health sciences, sustainability, and quantum technologies (with clear application to health or sustainability). The grant supports experiments and activities that move projects toward proof-of-concept, with an emphasis on commercial potential and scalability. Within sustainability, eligible topics include agriculture, food, industrial and environmental biotechnology, carbon capture, and climate change mitigation. In health, the grant targets new medical treatments, diagnostics, disease prevention strategies, and health technologies, particularly for cardiometabolic and infectious diseases, as well as stem cell-based medicine.
