Getty Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowships provide support to emerging scholars from around the world in the fields of art history and visual studies. Fellows are given the opportunity to complete substantial research projects aligned with the annual theme of the Getty Scholars Program while in residence at the Getty Center or Getty Villa in Los Angeles. The program fosters an active scholarly community, offering access to the Getty Research Institute’s collections, weekly lectures, and collaborative opportunities. Special fellowships are available for projects advancing African American art history through the African American Art History Initiative (AAAHI).
