    Description

This program provides funding to identify and implement primary prevention strategies and services aimed at preventing homelessness among youth and young adults ages 12 to 26. The focus is on populations with a high likelihood of experiencing homelessness or housing instability, including youth at risk of human trafficking, those struggling with substance abuse or mental health concerns, and those transitioning out of foster care, the juvenile justice system, or residential behavioral health systems. Projects should address root causes of youth homelessness, such as lack of affordable housing, poverty, and family dynamics. Awardees must engage youth with lived experience in homelessness to help design and implement funded projects, including establishing local youth advisory boards, and must participate in a federally sponsored evaluation.
