Description
This program provides targeted funding to state government agencies—by invitation only—to support the prevention, detection, and response to sexual abuse and sexual harassment in correctional facilities, and to implement the National Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Standards. The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), under the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), aims to uphold the rule of law, keep communities safe, protect civil rights, and address public safety challenges through this initiative. Funding is intended to directly support correctional agencies in advancing compliance with PREA and enhancing the safety and integrity of confinement environments.
