Description
This programme, led by the la Caixa Foundation, aims to build capacity among health research centres within higher education institutions in Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP). The initiative focuses on fostering collaborations between these research centres and local health institutions to address significant health challenges. Through targeted calls (such as We’Forward PALOP and We’Search), the programme funds research projects, provides specialized training in science management, and promotes networking at national and international levels. Supported projects address priority health areas like oncology, malaria, tuberculosis, diabetes, respiratory diseases, and the impact of COVID-19, with a strong emphasis on sustainable research infrastructure and local expertise development.
