Summary: Supports multidisciplinary research on how race, ethnicity, and immigration shape social, economic, and political outcomes in the U.S.
The Russell Sage Foundation’s Race, Ethnicity, and Immigration program funds innovative, investigator-initiated research examining how race, ethnicity, nativity, and legal status—individually and in combination—affect social, economic, and political outcomes for immigrants, U.S.-born racial and ethnic minorities, and native-born whites. The program encourages multidisciplinary approaches and aims to advance social science theory, data, and methods to deepen understanding of pluralism and pathways toward a more equitable society. Projects may address topics such as intergroup relations, social inclusion, immigration policy, legal status, social movements, coalition building, criminal justice, and the historical context of race and immigration in the U.S.
