This program funds education research projects that contribute to understanding and disrupting racial inequality in education, with the goal of advancing educational equity. The grant is field-initiated, meaning proposals are not restricted to specific topics, disciplines, or methods—applicants are encouraged to identify the most compelling issues and research questions. Projects can address any educational setting or level, including early childhood, K–12, higher education, families, and communities, both in the U.S. and internationally. The program especially encourages research on youth and educator mental health, community-based workforce development, and innovative uses of quantitative methods in the context of racial equity.
