The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is a long-standing grant initiative administered by the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. It provides funding to support the maintenance, restoration, and development of recreational trails, as well as the construction and rehabilitation of trailside and trailhead facilities across Idaho. The program also supports the acquisition of equipment for trail construction and maintenance. At least 30% of funds are reserved for motorized recreation projects, 30% for non-motorized recreation, and the remaining 40% is prioritized for projects encouraging shared use. The RTP is designed to help governmental entities and nonprofits improve Idaho’s trail infrastructure and outdoor recreation opportunities in alignment with statewide outdoor recreation plans.
