Description
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) administers the Recycling Consolidation Grant alongside its basic Recycling Grant. Established through the state’s 2011–13 budget, it provides supplemental assistance to responsible units operating effective recycling programs. Counties and federally recognized tribes or bands can qualify, as can larger responsible units and those that consolidate or cooperate with another unit under the statutory criteria.
The grant supports reasonable and necessary costs of planning, constructing, or operating an effective program. Eligible work includes residential recycling and yard waste services, education and outreach, collection and transportation, staff time, utilities, purchased services, and rents or leases. Eligible program costs are calculated net of proceeds from recovered materials.
