Funding Amounts: No funding available; this is a Request for Information (RFI) only.

Summary: ARPA-E seeks input on innovative technologies for substations and large power transformers to inform potential future funding opportunities.

Key Information: This is not a funding opportunity; submissions are for informational purposes only.

    Description

The Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) to gather input from the research community, industry, and other stakeholders regarding transformative and scalable technologies for substations and large power transformers (LPTs). The RFI aims to inform the development of potential future ARPA-E programs designed to enhance the resilience, reliability, and security of the electric grid.

ARPA-E is particularly interested in concepts that could accelerate the manufacturing of LPTs and substation components, increase modularity and power density, reduce reliance on critical materials, and improve the grid’s capacity and resilience—including cybersecurity protections.

This RFI is not a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). No funding will be awarded based on responses, and ARPA-E is not accepting applications for financial assistance at this time.
