Summary: Funding for innovative programs and research to improve health literacy and equitable healthcare communication for Michigan residents.
The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation is seeking proposals for programs and research that aim to improve the health literacy of Michigan residents. Health literacy includes the ability to find, understand, and use health information and services to make informed health decisions, as well as the extent to which healthcare organizations enable individuals to do so equitably. This opportunity supports initiatives that develop accurate and accessible health information, improve health insurance literacy, promote systemic changes in healthcare communication and access, increase workforce capacity through training, integrate health literacy into educational curricula, empower individuals to access reliable health information, expand adult education and translation services, promote digital health literacy, and advance research and dissemination of evidence-based health literacy practices. The Foundation encourages innovative approaches that can demonstrate measurable improvements in health literacy and contribute to better health outcomes and reduced healthcare costs for Michigan communities.
