The Research Activity Awards (RAA) program at the University of Kentucky is designed to stimulate and support research and scholarly activity across all colleges. The program provides a direct, flexible annual award to each college, calculated as 5% of the facilities and administrative (F&A) costs reimbursed to the university from that college’s grant and contract expenditures two years prior. All colleges receive at least a $10,000 minimum allocation. RAA funding can be used for a broad range of research-supporting activities, including faculty and graduate student support, equipment, seminars, research travel, salary support for research faculty/staff, and research supplies. This initiative eliminates the need for frequent individual support requests for common research expenses.
