Summary: Supports one-year research projects that generate economic evidence to inform policies and practices for Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias.
This funding opportunity supports innovative, high-impact research projects that advance understanding of the economic impact of Alzheimer’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease-Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) on patients, families, healthcare systems, and society. Administered by the NBER Coordinating Center and funded by the National Institute on Aging, the initiative aims to foster collaborations and generate rigorous economic and policy-relevant evidence to inform the design of more effective, accessible, and financially sustainable approaches to AD/ADRD prevention, treatment, and care.
Projects may focus on a wide range of topics, including policy and payment models, economic impact of caregiving, labor market factors affecting the dementia care workforce, institutional influences on care access and outcomes, economic modeling of future costs, and the economic implications of innovations in treatment and care. All projects must be designed for completion within one year and directly inform the economics of AD/ADRD.
