Description
This funding opportunity provides continued support for research, education, and outreach focused on botanical natural products, specifically those used in foods, dietary supplements, and cosmetics marketed in the United States. The cooperative agreement aims to:
- Identify and prioritize botanical ingredients based on safety concerns and market trends.
- Acquire, validate, and characterize authenticated reference materials (raw/processed plant materials and purified natural products) relevant to FDA safety evaluations.
- Exchange scientific information, methods, and reference materials with FDA and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with FDA scientists on mutually relevant research.
- Organize scientific workshops, training, and conferences to address high-priority research needs in botanical safety and public health.
The program is intended to complement activities in both public and private sectors and to advance the science and regulatory understanding of botanical ingredients.
