The Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum offers research grants as part of its Broadening Academia Initiative. These grants are designed to support North American-based Holocaust scholars—especially those who are untenured, contingent, or working outside academia—by providing access to the Museum’s extensive archival collections at the David and Fela Shapell Family Collections, Conservation and Research Center. The program reimburses travel, lodging, and miscellaneous expenses for a one-week research visit, allowing recipients to engage directly with original archival materials, microform, digital, and published resources in the Shapell Center Reading Room. The initiative aims to foster new scholarship on the Holocaust and expand access to the Museum’s resources for emerging and independent researchers.
