Summary: Supports research to advance U.S. swine health by addressing disease elimination, prevention, and improved biosecurity in alignment with the National Swine Health Strategy.
This opportunity funds research proposals that address critical knowledge gaps identified by the National Swine Health Strategy (NSHS), a producer-led initiative to improve the health of the U.S. swine herd. Priority areas include reducing the impact of domestic diseases (such as PRRSV and PEDV), preventing the introduction and spread of foreign and emerging diseases, and enhancing biosecurity and disease management practices across the pork industry. Projects should align with these priorities to advance disease elimination, improve early detection, and develop new tools and strategies for swine health management. The Swine Disease Research Task Force, comprising producers, veterinarians, and subject matter experts, evaluates proposals for scientific rigor and industry impact.
