The Research Traineeship program, offered by Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant, provides funding and mentorship for undergraduate and graduate students to pursue independent research projects in marine, ocean, or coastal sciences. Projects must advance the strategic objectives of Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant, including environmental literacy, healthy coastal ecosystems, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, and resilient communities. Trainees work closely with both faculty and professional mentors, gaining research experience and professional skills relevant to real-world coastal and marine challenges in Georgia.
