--- ## Description This grant is designed to prepare orthopaedic surgery residents for research-focused careers by supporting independent research projects with clear clinical relevance. Projects may be part of larger studies but must be achievable as stand-alone efforts by the resident, with the expectation that the work will lead to publication with the resident as an author. The program aims to develop research skills and provide early-career investigators with the experience needed to compete for future funding. --- ## Due Dates - Letter of Intent deadline: April 22, 2026 - Full application deadline: June 24, 2026 --- ## Funding Amount - Each award provides $20,000. - Funding is for a one-year project period. - The number of awards per cycle may vary based on available funding. --- ## Eligibility - Applicant must be an orthopaedic surgery resident or fellow in an approved orthopaedic program in the United States. - The applicant must intend to pursue a career with research as a major component. - The proposed project must be feasible for the resident to complete independently, even if part of a larger study. - Applications must be submitted by domestic non-profit, public, or private institutions of higher education (e.g., hospitals, medical schools, universities, or colleges). - Only one Letter of Intent (LOI) per Principal Investigator (PI) per cycle is allowed; PIs may only apply in one category per cycle (restriction does not apply to Co-PI status or applicants to the Mentored Clinician Scientist Grant). --- ## Application Process - Submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) by April 22, 2026, via [proposalCENTRAL](https://proposalcentral.com/GrantOpportunities.asp?GMID=143). - After LOI approval, submit a full application by June 24, 2026. - Applicants must log in to proposalCENTRAL to access the application.
