The Incentive Grants for Practitioner Innovation in Pharmaceutical Care program, administered by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation, provides annual seed funding to support pharmacists, pharmacy residents, and student pharmacists in implementing or enhancing innovative patient care services within their practice. The program's core focus is on developing and evaluating new practice models in pharmacy, with an emphasis on ambulatory and community pharmacy-based innovations that address current and emerging health care needs.
Since its inception in 1993, the program has supported over 800 pharmacy-based projects, improving health outcomes for thousands of patients nationwide. Funded projects span a wide range of topics, including diabetes and cardiovascular care, immunization, medication safety, access and pharmacy deserts, social determinants of health, mental and behavioral health, substance use disorder, maternal health, test and treat, and more.
Grant recipients also participate in a structured learning extension, which provides mentorship and opportunities to present research findings at the APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition.
