The Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) Program, administered by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) in partnership with the USDA, is designed to enhance the resilience of California's food supply chain. The program funds competitive projects that improve infrastructure in the processing, aggregation, and distribution stages (the "middle of the supply chain") for food and farm businesses. Its goals include supporting the development of value-added products, expanding market opportunities for small farms and food businesses, and creating fair jobs and wages. Only food system crops and products intended for human consumption are eligible; meat and poultry projects are excluded.
