    Description

    This program provides funding to eligible Gulf Coast state governments to establish one or more Centers of Excellence through competitive subawards. These centers focus on research, technology, and monitoring in key areas relevant to Gulf Coast restoration and sustainability, as defined by the RESTORE Act and its implementing regulations. Supported research disciplines include:

    • Coastal and deltaic sustainability, restoration, and protection
    • Coastal fisheries and wildlife ecosystem research and monitoring
    • Offshore energy development, emphasizing sustainable and safe practices
    • Sustainable and resilient economic and commercial growth in the Gulf Coast Region
    • Comprehensive observation, monitoring, and mapping of the Gulf of Mexico

    The Centers of Excellence are intended to advance scientific knowledge and practical solutions for the long-term health and resilience of the Gulf Coast environment and economy.
