Description
This program supports comprehensive, multi-layered substance misuse education, prevention, and early intervention for individuals and families across the lifespan. The Ohio Department of Behavioral Health’s Office of Community and Family Resiliency oversees the program. Funded services must respond to local needs, strengthen protective factors, and expand access to prevention through meaningful community partnerships.
Programming aligns with Ohio’s Strategic Prevention Framework and Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) strategies. Goals are to increase abstinence from alcohol and illicit drugs, delay alcohol use, eliminate high-risk use of alcohol and other legal drugs, and address environmental risk factors. Supported work includes evidence-based or evidence-informed programming, community education, healthy alternatives, referral, outreach events, prevention campaigns, and coalition participation. The program emphasizes community-responsive services and sustainable prevention capacity.
