The RGC Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme (PDFS), now renamed the RGC Junior Research Fellow Scheme (JRFS) starting with the 2025/26 cycle, is designed to nurture promising early-career researchers by providing three-year, full-time postdoctoral fellowships at universities funded by Hong Kong’s University Grants Committee (UGC). The scheme aims to ensure a steady supply of research talent for Hong Kong’s academic and innovation sectors by supporting up to 60 fellows annually across all disciplines, grouped into two broad streams: Humanities, Social Sciences and Business Studies; and Sciences, Medicine, Engineering and Technology. Each awardee’s host university receives an annual stipend to cover salary and travel, with the possibility for universities to supplement the fellowship with additional benefits.
