The Rural Health and Safety Education (RHSE) Competitive Grants Program aims to improve the quality of life in rural communities across the United States by supporting projects that address the relationship between rural prosperity and rural health and safety. For FY 2026, the program focuses on individual and family health education, particularly projects that provide information and training in rural areas about good health practices, health promotion, opioid and substance misuse prevention, and capacity-building for rural health providers. Projects must be research-informed, outcome-based, and delivered through Cooperative Extension services, with strong coordination with State Offices of Rural Health and other relevant partners.
