Summary: Supports projects to increase postsecondary enrollment, persistence, and completion among rural students by developing career pathways aligned with high-demand, high-wage regional industries.
This grant program aims to improve postsecondary outcomes for rural students through the development and implementation of career pathways that are closely aligned with high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand industry sectors and occupations in the applicant’s region. Funded projects are expected to foster stronger linkages between postsecondary education and workforce needs, expand access to work-based learning opportunities (such as apprenticeships and internships), and support innovative approaches to education and training—including the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) literacy and digital learning tools.
Applicants are encouraged to propose bold, results-oriented initiatives that reduce barriers for rural learners and deliver measurable improvements in enrollment, credential completion, and employment. Projects should emphasize employer-driven pathways, short-term and stackable credentials, and the development of sustainable talent pipelines in rural communities.
