Summary: Supports medical students and residents in emergency medicine to conduct mentored, impactful one-year research projects aligned with advancing emergency care.
This grant is designed to foster interest and skills in emergency medicine research among medical students and residents. It provides funding for self-limited research projects—clinical, translational, or educational—that can be completed within one year and are relevant to current or future emergency medicine practice. Each applicant must have a faculty research mentor in emergency medicine to guide them through the application and research process. The grant aligns with the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Foundation’s (SAEMF) mission to improve emergency patient care and support the development of future academic emergency physicians. Awardees are expected to attend the SAEM Annual Meeting, submit interim and final progress reports, present their research as an abstract at the meeting, and publish a first-authored manuscript in a peer-reviewed journal within two years of completing the award.
