This Horizon Europe call funds projects that aim to safeguard, document, and promote linguistic diversity in Europe, with an emphasis on endangered, minority, and historically marginalized languages. Projects should identify and share good practices for encouraging multilingualism, empower citizens in managing their linguistic heritage, and provide policy-relevant evidence and recommendations. The scope includes examining the impact of demographic and socio-economic changes, migration, and digital technologies on language preservation, as well as exploring non-linguistic benefits of language maintenance such as wellbeing and identity. Proposals are expected to use transdisciplinary approaches, engage local communities, and leverage digital tools and language mapping to enhance visibility and understanding of linguistic diversity. Collaboration with existing research, networks, and EU-funded initiatives is encouraged, with the aim of developing actionable strategies and recommendations to promote multilingualism and combat the marginalization of disadvantaged linguistic communities.
