The Science of Science: Discovery, Communication and Impact (SoS:DCI) program funds research aimed at understanding and enhancing the public value of scientific activity. The program supports empirical and theoretical work on the mechanisms of scientific discovery, models and data that illuminate scientific communication, and the societal benefits of science including its role in evidence-based policymaking.
SoS:DCI welcomes proposals from a wide range of disciplinary and methodological perspectives, including interdisciplinary and convergent research. Projects may focus on individual, organizational, or institutional levels, and address micro, meso, macro, or complex system scales. The program seeks transformative research that advances theory, develops new models or analytical tools, and rigorously assesses project impacts and policy implications.
