This grant supports large-scale research projects aimed at increasing the security, reliability, and resilience of digital ecosystems. Projects should generate new knowledge in information and communication technology (ICT) and may integrate technology research with disciplines such as social sciences and humanities. The goal is to strengthen Norway’s national capacity to withstand, adapt to, and recover from digital threats, ensuring the continuity of critical societal functions and reducing vulnerabilities. Projects are expected to facilitate the development of new security products, processes, and services, and may also inform policy development.
Key thematic priorities include digital sovereignty, balancing control and openness, and tackling challenges related to digital platforms, infrastructures, data flows, automation, artificial intelligence, and regulatory environments. Interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaborations are strongly encouraged.
