The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), administered by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), aims to improve the nutritional status of low-income seniors in Chicago by increasing their access to fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey, and herbs. The program provides resources for eligible seniors to purchase these foods at participating farmers' markets, roadside stands, and community supported agriculture (CSA) programs, and includes nutrition education and outreach. The selected grantee will be responsible for benefit distribution, eligibility verification, program outreach, nutrition education, data management, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
