Summary: Supports independent narrative feature films addressing social justice and benefiting the Bay Area filmmaking community.
The SFFILM Rainin Grants, established through a partnership between SFFILM and the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, are the largest U.S. grant initiative for independent narrative feature films. The program champions projects that explore social justice issues and contribute to the professional and economic vitality of the Bay Area filmmaking community. Grants are awarded annually to 15–20 projects at the screenwriting, development, or post-production stages, with a focus on narrative films that inspire social change. In addition to financial support, grantees benefit from artist development resources and, for certain stages, a FilmHouse residency in San Francisco.
