The Shenoy Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Neuroscience (SURFiN) aims to broaden access to neuroscience research for undergraduate students who have not previously had the opportunity to engage in hands-on research. Supported by the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative, this fellowship matches students with Simons Foundation-supported labs in the U.S., Canada, or Europe for a paid, in-person research assistantship during the academic year. Fellows receive direct mentorship from early-career scientists, participate in career development activities (such as a virtual coding boot camp and a scientific symposium in New York City), and are part of a supportive, community-building cohort. Prior research experience is not required, and the program particularly encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds and institutions with limited research opportunities.
