This short-term research grant enables U.S. citizen postdoctoral, adjunct, community college, HBCU/MSI faculty, and independent or visiting scholars to undertake research projects in Egypt for periods of three to six weeks. The program is designed for those whose access to institutional research travel funds is limited and provides both financial and administrative support through the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE). Research may relate to new or ongoing projects across a wide range of fields, including anthropology, archaeology, architecture, art history, comparative literature, economics, Egyptology, ethnomusicology, gender studies, history, Islamic studies, literature, music, political science, and religious studies.
The grant is funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs via the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC). Recipients benefit from ARCE's expertise in securing necessary permissions and clearances for research in Egypt.
