The SIG Research Grant is designed to fund small-scale research projects that advance the objectives of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) Special Interest Groups (SIGs). This grant encourages innovation and collaboration within the NSGC community, with a focus on projects that align with the society’s strategic initiatives, such as promoting patient access, professional growth, and the visibility of genetic counselors as genomic experts.
Applications undergo a two-step review: first by the relevant SIG to ensure alignment and completeness, then by the Research, Quality, and Outcomes (RQO) SIG Grant Subcommittee for feasibility, adherence to guidelines, and alignment with NSGC’s strategic priorities. Awardees are required to submit a progress report one year post-award, and any unused funds must be returned to NSGC.
