Funding Amounts: No direct monetary award; the foundation covers all symposium expenses (travel, lodging, meals, logistics) for up to three weeklong meetings per series.
Summary: Supports the organization of high-level symposia series in mathematics, theoretical physics, or theoretical computer science to foster collaboration and advance research on focused topics.
Key Information: Proposals must be submitted by a member of the organizing committee; institutional approval is not required.
The Simons Symposia Program enables leading researchers in mathematics, theoretical physics, and theoretical computer science to organize a series of up to three intensive, weeklong symposia focused on a single topic or closely related group of topics. Each symposium brings together up to 23 invited participants, including a committee of 2–4 organizers, to foster deep collaboration, open-ended discussion, and potentially set research agendas for the field. The program is designed to support impactful scientific exchange, with the Simons Foundation managing all logistics and covering all participant expenses.
