This funding opportunity, led by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), is a forecasted single source competition for the continuation of the Cardiovascular Repository for Type 1 Diabetes (CARE-T1D) Resource Center. The CARE-T1D biorepository, established in 2020, has enabled the collection, storage, and analysis of cardiovascular tissues from organ donors with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and those without diabetes. The goal is to continue supporting the resource center’s work in collecting, analyzing, and sharing such tissues, maintaining and expanding the data repository, and coordinating consortium activities. The overarching aim is to improve understanding of cardiovascular disease in type 1 diabetes, distinguish it from other forms of diabetes, and drive development of new therapies.
