The Society for Latin American Studies (SLAS), the UK subject association for Latin American studies, offers this award to help postdoctoral researchers complete a defined research project leading to a potential publication. SLAS supports interdisciplinary work on Latin American society and culture across the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The award places particular emphasis on the quality of the research outline, the feasibility of publication plans, and the potential significance of the work.
Sharing the supported research is also central to the programme. Recipients are strongly encouraged to present a related paper at the annual SLAS Conference and submit an article to the Bulletin of Latin American Research. They may also be asked to present at an online or in-person event and are expected to write a short research blog post for possible publication on the SLAS website.
