The Slifka Foundation Interdisciplinary Fellowship is a one-year program at the Metropolitan Museum of Art designed for early-career scholars interested in integrating art historical research with technical investigation of The Met's collection. For the 2026–2027 cycle, the fellowship focuses on medieval sculpture, particularly the conservation and research of monumental works such as the life-sized tableaux from the Château de Biron, France. Fellows will work closely with curatorial and conservation/scientific research mentors on a specific project, supporting technical and scientific analysis, conducting archival research, and contributing to scholarship and interpretive materials for gallery installations. The fellowship also includes professional development, engagement with museum staff, and public presentations in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
