The Smithsonian Marine Station Postdoctoral Fellowship Program provides 1–2 year fellowships for postdoctoral scholars to conduct research on Florida’s marine ecosystems, with a primary focus on the Indian River Lagoon and adjacent offshore waters. The program supports studies in fields such as seagrass biology, soft sediments, mangroves, oyster and coral reefs, marine microbiology, chemical ecology, biogeochemistry, ocean acidification, and marine organism life histories. Fellows are expected to be in residence at the Smithsonian Marine Station in Fort Pierce, Florida, but may also conduct comparative studies throughout coastal Florida. The fellowship offers opportunities to collaborate with Smithsonian research staff and utilize the institution’s resources and collections.
