Description
Soundweavings is an intercultural music residency run by Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Banff, Alberta. It brings together individual musicians and ensembles from diverse cultural and artistic practices worldwide, exploring connections between traditional global music and Western classical music. The program combines focused time for individual development with ensemble opportunities guided by faculty experienced in cross-cultural collaboration.
Participants can structure their time around their artistic processes while exploring new ideas through peer- and mentor-led music-making, listening, and discussion. Support includes 24-hour studio access, workshops on creative process, concert curation and career development, joint faculty and participant performances, archival recordings of public concerts, and limited demo recording sessions with Professional Training Program Audio Engineers. A predetermined project is not required for acceptance.
