    Description

This opportunity, offered by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), aims to strengthen the investigative and prosecutorial capacity of state, local, Tribal, and territorial prosecuting agencies. The program enables these agencies to assign or hire qualified prosecutors to serve as Special Attorneys under the direction of the National Fraud Enforcement Division or Criminal Division, or as Special Assistant United States Attorneys (SAUSAs) within a U.S. Attorney’s Office. These cross-designated prosecutors remain employees of their home agencies but are tasked with investigating and prosecuting fraud, drug, and human trafficking crimes committed by or involving criminal aliens within the United States. The program enhances intergovernmental coordination and increases the availability of prosecutorial personnel able to pursue these matters in close collaboration with federal authorities.
