Description
This opportunity provides funding for state, local, Tribal, and territorial prosecuting agencies to assign or hire qualified prosecutors to serve as Special Attorneys under the direction of the National Fraud Enforcement Division or the Criminal Division, or as Special Assistant United States Attorneys (SAUSAs) within a U.S. Attorney’s Office. These cross-designated prosecutors remain employees of their home agencies but are tasked with investigating and prosecuting fraud and other crimes committed by aliens (referred to as "criminal aliens") in the United States. They may also be assigned cases involving drug or human trafficking offenses. The program aims to strengthen investigative and prosecutorial capacity, enhance intergovernmental coordination, and expand the availability of cross-designated personnel to pursue such cases in cooperation with federal authorities.
