Summary: Supports local nonprofit parent organizations to provide training and information for families of children with disabilities, especially in underserved communities.
This program funds Community Parent Resource Centers (CPRCs) to ensure parents of children with disabilities receive high-quality, relevant, and useful training and information to help improve outcomes for their children. CPRCs are designed to strengthen the role of parents and ensure families, especially those in isolated or underserved communities, have meaningful opportunities to participate in their child’s education both at school and at home. The initiative aligns with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and seeks to build parents’ capacity to help their children meet developmental, functional, and academic goals, and to prepare them for productive and independent adult lives.
