This program, administered by the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), reimburses federally recognized Tribal governments for eligible expenses incurred in exercising Special Tribal Criminal Jurisdiction (STCJ) over non-Indians who commit certain covered crimes in Indian country or Alaska Native Villages (under a DOJ pilot). Covered crimes include assault of Tribal justice personnel, child, dating, sexual and/or domestic violence, obstruction of justice, sex trafficking, stalking, and protection order violations. Reimbursement is for actual costs incurred during calendar year 2025 in connection with the investigation, prosecution, defense, incarceration, and supervision of non-Indian offenders under STCJ authority.
