Key Information: Only CESU members in Alaska/Pacific Northwest regions are eligible; priority to Federal/State agencies managing fish or wildlife.
Description
This opportunity seeks qualified organizations to conduct pollinator surveys and habitat assessments, with a focus on the Western bumble bee (Bombus occidentalis), at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), Alaska. The project aims to document pollinator species presence, distribution, and habitat associations to inform conservation and management strategies, particularly in light of the Western bumble bee's potential listing under the Endangered Species Act. The work will support the JBER Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan and help the military proactively address potential impacts of pollinator conservation requirements on mission activities.
The project is structured as a cooperative agreement, emphasizing collaboration between the recipient, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and JBER's Environmental Conservation program. Substantial government involvement is expected throughout the project.
