Description
The Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) Tier 2 program provides competitive, cost-sharing grants to eligible state and territorial agencies for the construction, renovation, and maintenance of facilities and amenities serving transient recreational vessels at least 26 feet in length. The goal is to enhance public access to boating infrastructure for vessels that are operated, leased, rented, or chartered primarily for pleasure and stay no more than 15 days at a facility. Projects must serve the public and may be located at publicly or privately owned sites.
Eligible activities include building or renovating boat slips, docks, mooring buoys, gangways, fuel stations, restrooms, showers, utilities, laundry facilities, lighting, security features, and other amenities that directly support eligible transient vessels. The program also funds planning, permitting, engineering, and administrative activities necessary for project completion.
