Description
This funding opportunity, issued by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Idaho Field Office, supports staff and logistical support for the Tribal Radioactive Materials Transportation Committee (TRMTC). The selected recipient will facilitate engagement between DOE and federally recognized Tribal governments across the U.S. regarding planning, coordination, and communication on large-scale DOE shipments of commercial used nuclear fuel (UNF), high-level radioactive waste (HLW), and other radioactive materials. The awardee will provide primary staff support to TRMTC, organize meetings, support tribal participation in DOE forums, and assist in developing and sharing information relevant to DOE radioactive materials transportation that may impact Tribal areas.
The cooperative agreement aims to ensure meaningful Tribal participation in DOE transportation planning and policy, improve communication channels, and address Tribal concerns related to public safety, emergency preparedness, and environmental protection.
