The State Border Security Reinforcement Fund (SBSRF) is a major federal grant program administered by FEMA under the Department of Homeland Security. Established by the Working Families Tax Cut Act of 2025, the SBSRF is designed to empower U.S. states to address evolving border security challenges along the southern border through competitive, state-led projects. The program funds a broad range of activities, including construction or deployment of border barriers, ground preparation, detection and interdiction of illicit substances and unlawful entrants, and relocation of unlawfully present aliens.
SAAs are responsible for submitting a single statewide application that may include multiple local government subrecipients. The program supports both forward-looking (new) and retroactive (since January 20, 2021) eligible activities.
