Description
The State Loan Repayment Program (State LRP) provides funding to U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories to establish and operate their own educational loan repayment programs. These programs incentivize primary care, dental, and behavioral health providers to work in federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) by offering loan repayment in exchange for service. The aim is to improve access to care in underserved communities, address healthcare workforce shortages, and reduce health disparities.
